Minimum pass type: Bachelor pass

Source: 2026 MandelaUni Undergraduate Guide. Admission score type: Applicant Score (AS). AS is calculated using Nelson Mandela University applicant-score rules: three fundamentals plus the next best subjects, Life Orientation excluded unless the official quintile bonus applies. School: Medicine. Closing date for all MBChB applications is 30 June. Only a limited number of students are selected annually for first year. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee a place. Selection considers academic and non-academic merit according to guidelines approved annually by the Medical Programme Selection Committee. Students must register as medical students with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Annual proof of professional indemnity insurance is required before registration is finalised. Applicants are admitted according to MBChB Admission Guidelines. Current Mandela Uni Health Sciences or Science students, and students from similar faculties at other tertiary institutions, must refer to the Faculty of Health Sciences prospectus for specific selection requirements and would need to start from first year.
