Bursary for Geotechnical, Geomatics and Mining Engineering study routes, including selected Honours progression.

Funding details

Fields covered: Geotechnical Rock Engineering, Geomatics Mine Surveying and Mining Engineering.
Coverage value: Tuition fees for the full duration up to Honours level, accommodation in university residence and meals where applicable, paid vacation work, mentorship and graduate programme entry.
Service contract: Recipients must join the Valterra Platinum graduate programme after graduation and rotate across Valterra Platinum mines.

Geotechnical applicants must study full-time towards mining or geology and be final-year undergraduate students in 2026 and prospective Honours students in 2027
Geomatics applicants may be current Matric learners entering first year in 2027 or final-year undergraduate students becoming prospective Honours students in 2027
Mining Engineering applicants must study full-time towards BSc or BEng Mining Engineering and be final-year undergraduate students in 2026 and prospective Honours students in 2027
Minimum 65% overall average in most recent results
Studying at a recognised and accredited South African university
Preference for learners from communities around Valterra Platinum operations
